This highlights the improvements made in 3.2. The development team
is proud of what we have done, and we think you will enjoy the changes.
This is only a partial list, as many other small things have been fixed,
made more reliable, or enhanced in some way.
The Paypal Website Services Pro clearing system is now integrated into
FishCart. This gives the ability to receive payments into Paypal.
FishCart retains control of the payment transaction to completion, thus
retaining full customer information and seamless integration. The user
is not required to separately log into Paypal to complete the payment,
smoothing the customer experience.
FishCart supports dynamically generated DHTML/Javascript based category navigation. If enabled, a hierarchical sliding menu structure will be generated as a physical file each time a qualified administrative action is performed. This includes adding a category, re-ordering categories etc.
FishCart supports My Account functionality. In the My Account area users can sign-up for an account, manage billing/shipping address, review order history and manage their subscription to the built in FishCart promotional email system. Users can also Sign In/Out, manage their password, modify email address and retrieve their password if they've forgotten it. If a user is logged in with an existing account their information will be pre-populated into the checkout form, saving time.
Gift certificates are now supported in FishCart. Gift certificates can be used for repeated orders of items less than the certificate total, and multiple certificates can be used to pay for a large order; any remaining balance is issued as a credit card charge.
Gift orders can be placed through FishCart. The purchaser can specify different addresses for each gift or group of gifts.
FishCart supports the sale and download of items via Electronic Softgoods Delivery (ESD.) These can include essentially any form of electronic media including MP3, video, PDF, and other electronic document formats.
FishCart supports quantity pricing tables for both standard and clearance sale prices to be attached to any product on an individual basis.
Product options can now collect additional customer specific information such as names, titles, or similar; this is useful for items with engraving or similar customization.
PHP Smarty templating can be used for various FishCart display functions, including the Web pages, e-mail order confirmation responses, and promotional e-mail mailings. All templates are contained in the database, simplifying maintenance of the look and feel of the various pages.
FishCart now supports promotional emails to selected customers. Either all customers can be chosen or various subsets chosen on different criteria. Customers can sign up at checkout, or via My Account; all subscriptions are double opt-in verified. The selected customer lists can also be downloaded in delimited format for additional processing in spreadsheets or other software.
FishCart supports Auxiliary Text and Auxiliary Link items; with this new off-site or on-site links and helpful information can be added and maintained via the FishCart administration pages.
General customer information can be selected and downloaded in delimited format from the administration area.
FishCart can optionally encrypt all customer data as well as financial data.
Much hardening has been added against cross-site scripting, SQL injection and other such Web based attacks.
A Rich Text Editor (RTE) is now available for editing text areas such as product descriptions, front page text, copyright information, etc.
Products can be individually optimized for title, keyword and various meta information used by search engines.
Automated nightly feeds for shopping.com, yahoo.com and Froogle are supported.
Amazon.com feeds are fully supported via the Amazon supplied AMTU interface.
Suppliers can be tracked for each inventory item, and orders for each supplier can be queried in the administration area.
An image uploader is available to upload a product image at the time a product is added to the database.
